About the Book
In a noisy world, paying close attention to clues - the unlikely bits - gives us the possibility to sense and feel something fresh and new.
Our book explores the enduring and urgent need to develop our intuition and ability to hypothesize. We'll share historical anecdotes, build on interviews we have conducted with living disruptive thinkers and serve up tasty bits from the scholarly literature.
In a sense, our book is really our own detective work, heeding many clues to hypothesize how we might all deliver first-class discovery and sense-making in the era of automation and inference.
A few themes we'll explore:
the role of outsiders in our investigations
why some notice details that others don't
the virtues of ambiguity and cognitive flexibility
avoiding false closure
asking profoundly better questions
leveraging blind spots
the primacy of circles, revisiting old clues with fresh eyes
